07 Badakshan Agriculture Fair : Afghanistan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) organised a two days Agricultural Fair (AgriFair) in newly restored national Olympic committee football field in Faizabad on October 29-30, 2007 with a financial support of United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The aim of this fair was to bring innovative farmers and people from both the department of agriculture and national and international NGOs from different parts of the province to ring together at one platform and to increase the interaction between them Mission East also took part in the exhibition and setup a stall in order to showcase its products and provide valuable information to the visitors. The displayed products included dry fruits, freshly prepared fruit jams, honey, pickles, fresh fruits and some samples of wheat & vegetable seeds. Information about Mission East’s agricultural activities was also presented through various photographs before the viewers. Pictures about irrigation canal construction, beekeeping, kitchen gardening & food processing were also displayed and people were told about the steps taken by Mission East to create awareness in the communities (especially women) for adopting sustainable and modern use of agriculture technologies to improve their livelihood.

07 Beehives : Mission Øst startede biavls-aktiviteterne i Afghanistan i juli 2006 med støtte fra Danida under Det Danske Udenrigsministerium. Projektets formål er at give de allerfattigste kvinder hjælp til at forsørge deres familie ved at lære dem om biavl og produktion af honning. Under samtaler med de lokale råd og landsbyledere i det nordlige Afghanistan fandt Mission Øst frem til 20 kvinder, der desperat trængte til hjælp. Hver kvinde blev udstyret med et bistade, beskyttelsesudstyr og oplæring i at producere honning. Hver måned besøger Mission Østs landbrugshold de 20 kvinder og hjælper dem med råd og vejledning.

07 Time for some school furniture... : After the formation of the Afghan government education resumed but many places didn't have schools and those that did often did not have the necessary learning aid facilities. Although Mission East had built 6 new schools in Takhar province the children still sat on cement floors making learning difficult, especially during the winter months when temperatures drop. With the help of the Otikon and JL foundations Mission East were at last able to provide some proper furniture.
