Nepal Situation Report 6: Earthquake Emergency Response

A nepalese member of parliament praise Mission East and Medair for their relief effort.

Six weeks after the first earthquake hit Nepal, Mission East reached 15.000 people with relief aid. Exactly 4.129 families have received shelter and hygiene kits in five village districts. Mission East works together with Medair in the relief effort.



Annual Report 2014

2014 has been a year of disasters; landslides in Afghanistan, flooding in Nepal and a major humanitarian crisis in Iraq. Mission East has responded to these disasters on different scales but with a constant focus on providing immediate and efficient response to the most vulnerable.

2014 has seen the successful completion of 4 important projects for Mission East in Nepal. These projects focused on disaster risk reduction and resilience building women empowerment, and trade and business in the NTFP sector.  New  projects will start in 2015 in the same direction but including lessons learned from past actions.

This report examines the recovery experience of small, remote Nepalese communities in the aftermath of disaster. The aim is both to provide academic insight and to contribute to the formulation of better recovery strategies, policies and plans by government and other “external” agencies.

Third phase of Emergency Response Mechanism in Afghanistan is completed

Kabul, 08.04.2014 - The Emergency Response Mechanism (ERM), funded by the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid Department (ECHO), has continued to respond to emergencies triggered by on-going conflict or sudden-onset natural disasters that occur in Afghanistan. The ERM programme has finished its third phase and has brought about a number of achievements.
