Aims:

Reduced marginalization of girls and women and of CWDs, in terms of equal access to social, health-care, educational and legal services, respect in society and economic opportunities, and better application of their rights under Tajik civil law.

LOCATION:
10 villages:
Sujina and Dasht in Sujina jamoat, 
Ghezani Bolo, Ghezani Poyon, Moghiyon in Moghiyon jamoat, 
Kuktosh and Shurcha in Khalifa Hasan jamoat, and:
Kuloli, Zeri Hisor and Negnoti Nav in Rudaki jamoat.

 

Action:

ACTIVITIES 1-5:

1.1 Make MOS reach out to remote communities
1.2 Make access to education possible for CWDs
1.3 Enable duty bearers to provide rights-based quality services for CWD

2.1 Make CSIs respected actors in the disability sector
2.2 Strengthen the advocacy role of CSIs
3.1 Make communities aware of the rights for women and girls in relation to their current opportunities for development   

4.1 Support CSIs’ role as thematic expert
4.2 Strengthen the advocacy role of local CSIs
4.3 Enable duty-bearers to apply equal rights for women and girls

5.1 Build knowledge and distribute inputs needed to start home-based income-generating initiatives for women

Tajikistan

Background:

Nuri Umed (NU) has been ME's partner in two previous projects in Penjikent. In the first project, NU trained female-headed HHs on the need for improved WASH practices in 21 communities. In the second project, supported by the Norwegian MoFA (under project nr. TJK-10/009), NU has significantly built its organizational management capacity. The organization expanded  its work towards awareness-raising activities in the human right's sphere, focussing on equal rights for women and CWDs.
