The Board

Carsten Wredstrøm

Project and Quality Management Consultant. Chairman of the Mission East Board of Directors since 2010. For more than 20 years, he has worked with project and quality management in Denmark and abroad.

Ib Alstrup

Medicines Inspector. Deputy chairman of the Mission East Board of Directors since 2015.

David Hermansen

Lawyer with specialisation in business law. Member of the Mission East Board of Directors since 2016.

Ib Nørholm

Private investor. Member of the Mission East Board of Directors since 2015. Previously member of the Board from 2003-2004.

Helge Sørensen

Conducts research on disease control at the Technical University of Denmark. Member of the Mission East Board of Directors since 2018.


Management Team

Kim Hartzner

Managing Director. Responsible for leadership, strategic direction and general management of Mission East, including external profiling and key donor relationships. Medical Doctor. Co-founder of Mission East, previously Operations Director and Country Director in Armenia.

Vibeke Hauge Førrisdahl

Director of the Copenhagen office. Responsible for fundraising, communication, administration and liaison with the Danish state. Holds a Master’s degree in psychology and international development studies. Has worked for Mission East since 2012, formerly as Liaison & Event Officer and Programme Manager for Tajikistan.

Peter Drummond Smith

Deputy Managing Director and Operations Director, Brussels. Responsible for relief and development programming. Joined Mission East in 1997. Engineer with a background in international business and aid management.

Nazik Avagyan

Finance Director, Brussels. Worked at the Mission East Armenia office for four years and joined the HQ team in Brussels in 2011. Before joining Mission East, Nazik worked as Accountant and Finance Controller at a US-based Humanitarian Aid and Development agency in Armenia.

Richard Peppiette

Support Manager, Brussels. Responsible for IT systems and their use in making the most out of our available staff and donations since 2000. Previous experience as electronics engineer who has worked for aid organisations in the field.

Joël De Vos

Human Resources Director, Brussels. Holds a degree in Human Resources Management. Worked as HR Manager for five years before becoming HR Director. Prior to joining Mission East, Joël had 10 years of management experience in the private sector.

Jana Goepel

Office Manager, Berlin. Responsible for public and private donor coordination in Germany. Jana holds a Master’s degree in International Development Studies and joined Mission East in April 2017. Before that, Jana worked as institutional fundraising coordinator for Oxfam.
