Mission East's areas of involvement in Armenia
Mission has been working in Armenia in the following areas:
- Support to improve education of children with learning difficulties, including curricula reform and promotion of inclusive schools.
- Support to parents of children with learning difficulties, with a disability.
- Capacity development of local organizations involved in disability and education issues.
- Inclusion of children with disabilities in communities as active citizens with access to their rights.
- Increase of knowledge and skills of families of children with disabilities to organize themselves in Community Based Support Groups to provide support networks and advocate for disability rights.
- Establishment of a replicable model and contribution of means for improved quality healthcare for people with disabilities, with emphasis on identification of disability and appropriate treatment.
- Increase focus on rights of children with disabilities through disability organizations advocating for government, co-ordination of ministries and allocation of increased resources to disability issues.
- As the Principal Recipient of the Global Fund financed HIV/AIDS project, support the National Programme on the Response to the HIV epidemic in Armenia.
